What C6 means
The water coming into the dishwasher is too cold. GE says it should be at least 120°F.
Likely causes
- Water heater set too low
- Long cold run of pipe to the dishwasher
- Other hot water use at the same time
Safe first checks
- Run the kitchen faucet until the water is hot before you start the dishwasher.
- Avoid running the washing machine or showers while the dishwasher runs.
- Check the water heater setting, and use options that make the cycle run longer to add heat.
When to stop
Don't set a water heater so hot that it scalds. If the code continues with hot water at the sink, schedule service.
