How it works
How Error Code Helpline works
Look up a code, check safely, and get the right part. Here's what happens behind each step.
1. Verified code meanings
Every code on this site comes from a manufacturer's own owner's manual, installation guide, service literature or support page, and we link the source on the page. If two sources disagree or we can't verify a code, we leave it out. Codes can mean different things on different models, so each page says which products it applies to.
2. Safe first checks
For each code we list 1 to 3 checks a homeowner can safely do: things like a closed water valve, a clogged filter, a tripped breaker, or a blocked drain. Every page also says when to stop. We never walk you through gas valves, burners, venting, sealed refrigerant systems, combustion parts or wiring inside a live panel.
3. The AI helper
Our AI helper runs on Cloudflare Workers AI and looks up your code in our verified database before it answers. It asks for your brand, model and code, explains what the code means, and walks you through checks one at a time. If you describe a dangerous situation, such as a gas smell, burning, sparks or a CO alarm, it stops troubleshooting and tells you what to do. It can be wrong, so confirm with your manual. A person on our team reviews conversations to improve the helper.
4. Parts, shipped to you
When a simple part is the fix, we link it from our shop. Parts ship straight from our supplier partners' warehouses. Online checkout is opening soon: you can fill your cart now and leave your email to hear when it opens.
What we don't do
We don't send technicians, take phone calls or do repairs. For anything past a safe first check, call a licensed local technician.
