What FAULT - CHECK IGN CONTROL means

An ignition problem: air pressure switch tubing, fan, blocked air, igniter, low gas supply or no flame at the burner.

Also shown as: CHECK IGN CONTROL, depending on the model.

Likely causes

  • Gas valve closed or empty propane tank
  • Blocked air intake
  • Igniter fault

Safe first checks

  1. Make sure the gas supply valve is open and, for propane, the tank has fuel.
  2. Check from outside that nothing is blocking the heater's air openings.

When to stop

Ignition, fan and gas checks are for a qualified tech. If you smell gas, leave and call your gas supplier from outside.
