What 4C means
Water isn't getting into the washer the way it should, so the washer stops and shows a water supply error.
Also shown as: 4E, nF, 1 4C, depending on the model.
Likely causes
- Water supply valves not fully open
- Kinked or swapped inlet hoses
- Clogged inlet filter screens
- Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe, siphoning water out
Safe first checks
- Open both hot and cold water valves fully and make sure the hoses aren't kinked. Hot must go to the hot inlet and cold to cold; Samsung says to connect the hot line even if you wash in cold.
- Check the drain hose: Samsung says it should go 6 to 8 inches into the drain pipe, not deeper, and must not be kinked.
- Unplug the washer or switch off its breaker for 1 minute, restore power and run a cycle. If it still won't fill, turn the water off and check the inlet screens on the back of the washer for debris.
When to stop
If the code keeps coming back after these checks, the inlet valve or controls need service.
